Statement
I completed a foundation course at St. Martin's Art School (way back in the 60’s). After living a full life as: wife, mother to 4, gallery owner, decoy duck carver, curator, community art administrator, traveller and many other mundane things I have spent the last three years studying part-time for a Degree in Contemporary Fine Art. This has been a great experience and achieved the main purpose - to get me focussed creatively again, after years of administration work.
I have discovered etching & printing and enjoy methods which give slightly random results; monotype prints taken from acrylic paint rolled onto perspex sheets or etchings printed onto painted, textured backgrounds. I am striving to achieve glowing colours and aim to develop my methods by creating layers of colour with mixed media to try and achieve the depth of intensity I require.
I am particularly keen to find a way to interperet memories fom my Indian travels and hope that gradually my work will acquire a strength and integrity that will enable me to share with viewers some of theses intense experiences.
I know there are far too many of us out here playing, self indulgently, with our 'art' but please keep an eye on this website to see what is going on. Soon, I hope, the range of work will be wider and there will be more artist's books - a genre that I find really exciting.
